Chinese Pickled Cabbage and Pork Belly
A Northeastern Chinese Recipe
Hello everyone, my name is Peter.
Today we're going to make Suan Cai Bai Rou.
This is a Northeastern Chinese dish.
If you like pickled cabbage and stewed pork,
you will love this dish.
Ingredients
Pork belly,
suan cai (Chinese pickled cabbage),
cellophane (mung bean) noodles,
ginger,
garlic,
green onion,
3 pods of star anise,
a few gains of black peppercorn,
a little ground black pepper,
some oil,
and some salt.
Directions
Step 1
Add to a pot
green onion,
ginger,
3 pods of star anise,
a few black peppercorns,
pork belly,
and water.
Cook them together,
skimming any fat at the top of the pot.
Simmer for 45 minutes.
Step 2
Soak the cabbage in water.
Remove from the water, and shred the cabbage.
Step 3
After having cooked for 45 minutes,
remove the pork and slice into strips.
Step 4
Soak the noodles in water.
Step 5
Heat oil in a pan, and fry the cabbage,
green onion, ginger, garlic,
ground black pepper, and salt.
Step 6
Add in the pork broth,
the noodles,
and the sliced pork.
Cook together for 15 minutes.
